September was a memorable month for members of the Youth, Senior & Master sections as all 3 competed at Rescue 2016 in Noordwijk, The Netherlands
Masters kicked off the competition in what started out to be typically autumnal weather, so much so that the competition program was altered due to sea conditions! By lunch time on the first of 2 days competing results were already looking fantastic and the sun began to shine! After a busy 2 days of competing the team celebrated some great results with many finals reached, personal bests acheived and medals won
Next up came the Senior team, racing over 3 days the Woolacombe team mixed it with the best in the world reaching many finals. A big highlight for the team was crowning Jack Hutchens 2km World Champion after a stella race...celebrations went on long after the competition finished!
Lastly rounding off the last days of the 2 week event Woolacombe Youth took the stage. Due to forecasted weather the program was again changed with racing starting a whole day early! Right from the first race Woolacombe Youth proudly flew the flag for Devon being the only county team represented. Over the course of 3 days the team simply excelled, making their way through multiple rounds of racing for each event to finals and even bringing home medals on the sports highest stage. As the sand settled on the last event of Beach Flags the teams last point was won meaning they secured 12th position out of 84 teams from around the world and the highest placed UK Youth team to attend

Call to ALL Masters!
Stillwater pool training will start again at 8pm Monday 7th November at NDLC
We would like to welcome all adults to come and join us at the pool to enjoy some swim fitness and learn some Lifesaving skills
The club would like to invite both existing members and anyone with an interest to come along and have a try. Any non-members will be covered SLSGB insurance and get 3 FREE taster sessions and HALF PRICE membership upon joining the club
Masters sessions will also feature in local press soon...spread the word...lets grow Masters
During a busy spring and summer of 2016 the club made 2 separate funding applications and the committee are now pleased to announce these have been successful!
Grant funding has been awarded from Sport England & Awards For All which has enabled the order of 20 NEW Nipper Boards, 10 NEW 10'6 Racing Boards & a NEW Rescue Board
With much needed new Nipper boards available to use the committee look forward to seeing the continued growth and success in the Nipper section
Sport England have supported our bid to grow adult participation by enabling us to order the 10 new 10'6 racing boards in varying sizes...the committee would like to invite any adult with an interest to come and have a go with the Masters section in the pool and on the beach! This is an email to let you know that WSLSC will be holding their AGM on Wednesday 9th November 2016. This is your chance to come along and have a say about YOUR club so please make time if you can to attend.
Although all committee members stand down at the AGM, some will seek re-election whilst others wish to stand down. Those who are standing down this year and requiring new members are:
Nicola Oliver (chairperson)
Nathalie Sayer (competition secretary- will carry on as general secretary)
Scooby Lark- youth rep
Sam Hood- Youth Admin
Mandy Greening- Nipper Rep
Also currently vacant are the Awards Officer and Safety Officer.

I have attached a copy of the agenda for the meeting, a draft copy of the minutes from last years meeting and the job descriptions of the key roles. Other roles include Fundraising Officer, Competition Secretary and General Member. This is a great opportunity to celebrate another fantastic season for the club and recognise not only some amazing performances but also the enormous amount of work members put in to ensure the club runs so successfully
